Claire Stretch is a life coach and co-creator of Wisdom at Work, a program that aims to bring wisdom into leadership. She says the best way to recover any sort of credibility after an ill-advised dalliance is to name it, rather than hide it. "By admitting to your colleagues you've made an error in judgement, you will engage the forgiving part of other people," she says. "If you able to be human and hold your head up high, it takes the heat out of the situation. The very worst thing you can do is lie and try to cover your tracks; it could come back to bite you later."
